Heidi Emery

Heidi completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at The University of Newcastle in 2019. Heidi is currently in her second year of the Master of Clinical Psychology and is provisionally registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (APHRA).
Prior to gaining her Bachelor of Psychology, Heidi has spent most of her professional life working in the community service sector devoting many years to helping people in the community find solutions to real-life problems to improve wellbeing and quality of life. Heidi is motivated and compassionate psychologist, a strong advocate for families, and enjoys the challenge of empowering clients to improve their overall wellbeing. She has a range of experience working with families, children, and adolescents. Heidi’s area of interest is working with teenagers both neurotypical and neurodiverse and is trained in assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Learning Disorders. Heidi works with a variety of presentations including ASD, ADHD, behaviours difficulties, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, Tourette Syndrome, and personality disorders. Heidi utilizes a strengths-based, holistic approach in combination with a variety of evidence-based interventions to address the needs of her clients including, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for adults and adolescents, Schema Therapy, Positive Psychology, Family Based Therapy, Parenting Programs and Mindfulness-based Interventions. Heidi’s experience as a volunteer research assistant at the University of Newcastle has provided her with an extensive understanding of the implications of research and the complexities involved in conducting evidence-based research. As part of her research, Heidi developed and pilot testing an e-Health resource for parents of children with special healthcare needs to support the mental health needs of parents and families. Heidi is also the support group leader for central coast for the Tourette Association of Australia and provides support, education and advocacy to families, schools, and individuals with Tourette syndrome. Belinda Allen
Belinda is a caring and compassionate provisionally registered psychologist through APHRA and is currently completing her internship at The Wellnest. She has completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Newcastle and Master of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University. Belinda has worked with adults and teenagers across community and hospital settings.
Belinda aims to connect with her clients: children, adolescents, parents, or adults, and develop a safe and comfortable rapport. Her warm personality, non-judgmental and empathic style have enabled her to support clients’ who experience anxiety, social anxiety, mood disorders including depression, suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviours, adjustment and grief and loss. Belinda utilises a person-centred approach to therapy, and tailors treatment to meet the individual needs of each client. Her treatment approaches include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), strength-based, and Solution Focused Therapy.
